Kingdom Hearts Prologue
Sora, Riku, and Kairi reacquainted themselves back into their own world. Everything returned to what it used to be or so it seems. As they say everything changed except the waves that sound the same. Whatever adventure lies ahead they'll always be inseparable. No greater dark, no greater light, no greater anything. Friendship is bound to break the chain that is black and white.

Are we what we are truly perceived…
Can we bring ourselves to lie who we really are…
Battling the world outside your walls…
…And inside ourselves…
[left]Is a battle you alone can win…
And alone you can lose
Just remember
the smallest things
can help lead you to see yourself again
and what makes you shine your greatest light

Three steps more then the birthday boy would surely be surprised. A smirk played Riku’s lips. Kairi tried her hardest to stifle tiny, periodic giggles. Today was the big guy’s birthday or also known to be Sora’s big day. A year and a half has flied by quicker than what they thought.
“That’s the last time I have you tag along,” Riku whispered jokingly outside Sora’s door.
Kairi giggled then swat him playfully. “Oh Riku, I wasn’t too bad, admit it.”
“You really improved on the first step,” Riku said not giving her an actual compliment.
“Funny,” Kairi said.
The door was left open when the two remembered they were planning to surprise Sora. Too bad it was ruined because here he was half-asleep. Sora rubbed his eyes and shook his head to process what’s going on in front of him. What were Kairi and Riku doing here? He gapped when he saw a box.
“Presents!?” Sora said with his hands open ready to grab it. “I want to open it!” Sora exclaimed jumping up and down, “Can I? Can I?”
“Go ahead,” Riku said crossing his arms leaning into the wall, “It’s your birthday.”
“We’ll open it together,” Kairi said kneeling next to Sora. His eyes were deeply occupied into what was maybe the most elaborate gift he received in a while. He ran his fingers on the edges.
RIP!
“Kairi!” Sora said watching her laugh, “I wanted to rip it first,” he whined.
“Sorry, sorry,” she said, obviously anticipating his reaction to what the two managed to get Sora. She leaned further to watch the wrapping paper be removed eagerly. A brown box was in place that made Sora groan. His hands shook it a bit.
“What’s in here?” Sora asked, “A time bomb?”
“No,” Riku said, “That’s for the New Year’s holiday.”
The white hair male watched the excited birthday boy open the top. Sora’s first confrontation with the peanuts was to practically throw his self into the pile. Sora managed to successfully take the leap. Packaging peanuts were sloshing everywhere in any direction Sora checked.
“Are you sure there’s a present?” Sora asked childishly pulling his head out from under. Sure there was a present after all it was on top of his head.
Kairi stood then grabbed the white box. It resembled the one Sora received that had a picture of Hayner, Pence, Olette, and Roxas. Next to it was sea-salt ice cream Donald had eaten. It had a salty, but sweet taste to it. Sora smiled in nostalgia.
“Riku and I worked hard,” Kairi said, “You made many friends you haven’t seen.”
“Yeah that’s right,” Sora said crossing his arms and moving his right hand along his dialogue. Kairi opened the white box then handed one of many scrolls to him. He uncrossed his arms and started to read the scroll. His lips moved to the words then he read it out loud.
“Sora,” he said, “Riku,” he added, “And Kairi.”
“It’s missing words,” he said turning to show them.
“We found it,” Riku said grasping his chin, his eyes intrigued, “It had a girly hand-writing.”
“It’s not girly!” Kairi said, “There are plenty of guys who dot their "I"s with hearts!”
“Well, this is the first then,” Sora said double-checking the letter.
“Kairi and I managed to receive letters from your friends for your birthday, however,” Riku said beginning to explain how they ended up getting the current letter they’re reading, “The letter wasn’t a specific request.”
“Obviously this someone knows us!” Sora exclaimed waving the letter in the air.
“We can ask your other friends,” Kairi said then covered her mouth, “Oops.”
“You’re throwing me a surprise party!? Really!?”
Sora was majorly stoked! Who would have known his friends worked so hard to throw him such an awesome get-together?! These guys were seriously the best! He had started to miss his other friends. To hear he’ll see Donald and Goofy is something he looked forward to doing.
Riku ran his hand down his face. “We were,” he said shooting Kairi a serious look asking if it was necessary to spill the beans. “Oh well, you would have found out eventually, better than never.”
“And I didn’t technically say the word party,” Kairi said eyeing a corner wary to exchange stares.
Riku nodded, “Right.” He was kidding of course. It was a job well done on her end. She knew a month ahead. So for her to finally tell him had relieved her. Her hormones were generating an utmost joy Sora and he could not comprehend.
“So,’ Kairi said with her hands held together at her side, “Are we going to get you ready or not?”
“Kairi taking me shopping,” Sora said rubbing his head, “Who would have thought.”
“Oh come on!” Kairi pouted. She was waiting this very day. She’ll try to score a kiss too! Let’s see how the shopping part goes first. Riku had unwanted business to tend to that included the party.
“You two take care,” Riku said already half-way down the stairs, his head visible and the wave he sent, “Crazy love birds.”
“Hey!” Kairi and Sora said in unison.
The two immediately stared at each other unsatisfied the other person copied his or her word. When Sora did a move, Kairi copied it. Then when she made a move he did the same. That’s when the two were even Kairi decided to claim the win for her self by making a sudden light-hearted shove.
“She’s beaten me Riku, she’s beaten me, oooh man, looks like I won’t be able to go shopping,” Sora exaggerated. His body sprawled on the floor and him holding his gut.
“Or attend your party,” Kairi sang out loud.
“Never mind!”
Donald was no where near happy to know how hard it was compared to the past to tie down a Gummi Ship. His foot tapped harshly and repetitively. His eyes were staring practically daggers to the stupid thing. Technology was getting on his nerves ever so recently.
The duck grabbed nearest to him a stick to charge at the stupid ship. “Wah!?” Donald could no longer touch the ground. His duck feet flapped in the air as he squirmed. Finally he let go of the stick then turned to see Goofy.
“Goofy!” Donald said crossing his arms, “I had it under control!”
“Gawsh Donald,” Goofy said tapping his hat off, “That stick won’t do any good,” he said then he itch his chin, “Only make the ship angry.”
“Ya, ya,” Donald said throwing a fuss as he walked away from the ship. That meant Goofy was left to take care of the stubborn thing. Good luck! He grumbled on in his grouchy mood.
“Let’s see,” Goofy said taking out the manual, “I should probably read the manual.”
“A manual?!”
Donald ran back in a zip. He jumped up and down trying to grab the manual. Eventually he grabbed it then flipped the book open. He ran his fingers on the pages. His eyes were right then ran left.
“Donald, the ship!” Goofy shouted.
“I know, I know!” Donald said.
“No, no, the ship! Look!”
Goofy pointed to the shore where their ship was. They had preparations to hold the ship at the dock. They neglected to do such action so far. Thus the waves increasingly pushed the ship farther.
Donald when he tilted his head dropped the manual. He ran to the dock then took a leap onto the top of the ship. His feathers made a slippery sound. Further he went until he stopped gradually. OK, his situation became worst than before.
Their ship was still not tied down. Mickey would be here any minute then to see this was bad, really bad. Goofy was trying to do whatever he can to rescue Donald. What was more important? A ship or a friend? Goofy went for the friend.
“Donald let go!” Goofy shouted from the shore.
“No!” Donald said fighting back not wanting to easily give in. Preservation ran inside his adrenaline. He opened the door on the top. There should be a rope somewhere in here. Aha! Donald exclaimed great joy the show the rope in view.
“What are you guys doing!?” Riku shouted seeing everything going on. Donald was not too far away, but he was on a Gummi Ship being carried away by the waves of the water. He had arrived not too shortly after Donald discovered the rope.
“Grab on,” Goofy said. Riku held his hands up to grab a hold of the other end of the rope. The two began to try and pull the rope. “Heave, pull,” Riku and Goofy said in a rhythm.
The ship drifted back to the shore against the waves. Their strength was able to put enough impact to help make it move in the opposite direction. On the way to the dock the ship slowly spun. Donald sat there dumbfounded waiting to return to a grounded area.
When the ship was brought back they all pitched in to read the manual while tying down the ship. Just in time to watch King Mickey’s ship appear. It landed nicely onto the shore. The top open and the familiar black mouse eagerly jumped out then into Riku’s arms.
“It’s so good to see you guys again,” Riku said placing Mickey on the ground. “We have a lot to do.” He looked back then used his two fingers to whistle. “The others should be coming.”
“I take it Kairi spoiled the surprise,” Goofy said raising his arm.
Riku nodded then shrugged because it wasn’t a big deal anymore and said, “Better now than never.”
The group chuckled at Riku’s statement. In the past month it’s their mutual concern. The immediate hazard was if the party would actually happen. All this preparation and Sora didn’t get to have his party would be a total let down and a complete absolute waste. Riku wanted to see his friend smiling. Even if that meant having to see Sora turn out happier around his other best friends than Kairi and he.
Destiny Island members appeared in pieces sometimes with or without partners. Tidus helped to set the volleyball net. The tables were carried from individual homes. Everybody was assigned a station to pull together a rocking party. Goofy was helping with the food platter.
Donald peeked from underneath the table. His hand pushed the table cloth aside to see if the coast was clear. He had wanted to be able to snack on the food before the party because it all looked so good. Mickey managed to bring along sea-salt ice cream that he loved.
Someone was approaching the table quick. His hand removed itself and he looked behind him to shush the girl that was sitting next to him. Donald looked back to where he was staring then turned back. When did she get here? He had never seen this girl before in his life!
The girl had silver long hair in the front. Her dark blue eyes pierced deep. Her fingers went to touch Donald as her lips parted to speak. Her touch was rejected when Donald ran out crying mad. The dark blue eyes he could never forget.
“Donald, what’s wrong?” Goofy said questioning his sudden movement.
“Qua-naah!” The duck whaled flapping his arms then hiding behind Riku.
Riku shook his head saying, “I thought I told you to not touch the food.”
He had to do everything it seems. Being placed in the position to direct what people will do when and or where brings duties. These are the type that he wanted to avoid because they’re silly things. Donald may not be used to things here on Destiny Island. A crab could have scared the moocher. Yeah, a meaningless crab was possibly under the table.
Selphie watch Riku head to the finished buffet table. She tapped Tidus’s shoulder then motioned him to follow. The two joined Riku around the table. They had set the table so if there was something wrong it was their problem to fix.
Riku got onto his knees. It didn’t look like there are any tracks belonging to a crab. His finger tips grasped the end of the cloth then pulled it above his head. A girl he was unfamiliar with was sitting under there. She had stared back.
“Selphie,” Riku said looking back behind him, “I need your assistance.”
“Sure Riku, what’s sup?” She said dropping whatever she previously was working on to assist her friend. She took the initiative to join him on the ground. It made sense because the issue was a girl. “Oh, hi,” Selphie said smiling, “Is she a friend of yours?”
“No,” Riku said shaking his head. “I’ve never seen her before.”
“Me neither,” Selphie said agreeing on what Riku had said.
No one knew who she was. Getting her to come out took a bit of a fuss. She had a ragged white dress that had short-sleeves that cut off at the shoulders. Her mouth never uttered anything. Sure a nod or shake was given, but that’s it.
“I’m Riku,” the silver hair guy said introducing himself to help the girl then motioned to the others nearest to them, “That’s Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and Selphie.”
“More the merrier,” Goofy said, “It’s nice to meet ya…uh…what’s your name?”
The girl bit onto her thumb thinking. Then she removed her thumb and shrugged. OK this was a weird occurrence. Well she could not be let off the hook. They had to think of a name to call her.
“Shi,” the girl said coming to a conclusion.
“Shi sounds great!” Mickey had said with a smile on him while nodding his head. “It’s nice to meet you, I am King Mickey.”
Shi chuckled then made a courtesy. The wind that shoved its way through made Shi cover herself and the wind blew her scrunch off. Her silver hair went loose. She dropped her guard then everyone resumed to what they previously were working on.
“I have everything going Riku,” Selphie said.
“Good,” Riku said nodding off.
“Ri-ku, where am I?” Shi asked aside him.
“You’re in Destiny Island,” Riku explained, “You must have gone here from another world and hit your head.”
“Yeah,” Shi said nodding then asked, “Ri-ku, what’s another world and hit your head?”
Riku was taken to hear her response. Was she truly lost within herself too? Her memories might be really jacked up. This was a new challenge to the group. She was an ultimate challenge.
“I’ll tell you later,” Riku chuckled softly, “But since you’re here you can help.”
“Help with what?” Shi said queried to know what it is that was going on currently.
Riku placed a hand on his side. He closed his eyes taking a whiff of the salty sea air. “A birthday,” he said, “Sora, you’ll meet him soon.”
“I can’t wait,” Shi replied grinning widely although she had no idea what he meant “a birthday”.
