Suki had run away from Vertigo earlier and had now entered the orchard and found a large apple tree where she climbed and sat on a branch near the middle

Vertigo followed behind, then saw her climbing the tree. "Not again! That's dangerous!" he ran and stopped just below where she was sitting. He sighed and looked up. "Suki-san..please stop being so stubborn."

"No, no I won't" she said as she threw an apple at him and climbed higher. One of the branches snapped and she nearly fell but was able to continue climbing as she finally sat higher than before

Vertigo caught the apple then flinched as a branch snapped. Fortunately she was able to continue climbing. "Suki-san! Tch." he looked around. He couldn't climb the tree since if she falls, there would be no one to catch her. He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. He looked up. "Get down. Now." he said in a rather emotionless voice.

Suki looked down and swung her legs "But I like it up here Vertigo. That way nobody can hurt me!" she said defensivly. She would of stayed up there if gravity hadn't hated her. The sterdy branch gave way due to it being an old tree. Before she realised what was happening she was falling "Kyaaaa!!!!"

Vertigo sighed. "No one would hurt you, huh?" he took a step back, estimating the exact spot where she would land, and finally, caught her in his arms. He sighed. "No one would hurt you. But it can kill you." he said in an anxious voice. "Are you alright?"

Suki looked a little suprised that she hadn't landed on her butt but nodded non the less "Yeah I'm fine. Why?"

Vertigo raised an eyebrow. "Why? Is that even worth asking? Of course I was worried. Geez, you troublesome young lady." he sighed and gently laid her feet on the ground. "Are you hurt anywhere?"

Suki twirled in a circle "Nope I'm A-OK hehe. How come you worried?" she asked cutely

Vertigo raised an eyebrow as he shuffled his hair. "What, you want me to be calm and composed knowing that you almost fell on a tree?" he looked at her with a serious expression. "If I wasn't there, you'd probably already be spending months in the hospital with broken bones and wounds everywhere. Worst case scenario? You'd probably be dead." he emphasized the last sentence.

Suki knew what he was on about yet she looked down "Maybe that would be a good thing" she said quietly in hope he didn't hear

Vertigo looked down at her. "What made you say that?" he said in a cold voice.

"Because of my family ok. My mother wouldn't have to got hrough this trouble with Pride because of me. maybe he'd behave and be nice if I wasn't there" she said as she fell to her knees with her head in her hands and cried

Vertigo crouched down. "Didn't I already told you? That I'd meet him someday. And settle this once and for all." he smiled. He held her chin, and gently brushed her tears with his thumb. "I'm here." he smiled.

Suki looked at him and nodded "thats why I'm always up in trees so he won't get me" she said as she hugged him and buried her head in his chest

Vertigo patted her head. "It's alright. It's alright." he sighed. "I'm here." he smiled. "I'll protect you from him." he assured.

"Thankyou" she said as she kept on hugging him. This is why she loved him. He was there for her and said he would protect just like a knight would protect his princess. She just smiled up at him with glistening eyes

Vertigo looked at her. He smiled. "Didn't I say I'll show you something nice?" he smiled. He held her chin. "This won't mean anything." and he inched closer, "But at the very least, I don't want you to feel sad" and he met her lips with his as he stole a sudden kiss.

Sukis eyes widened at first. Even if he said it didn't mean anything it did to her. Her eyes flutttered closed as she returned the kiss

After a moment, Vertigo pulled back and smiled. He patted her head. "So don't cry again, alright?" he smiled.

Suki nodded "I won't" she said with a giggle "Do you want to pick some apples?"

Vertigo chuckled. "Sure." he smiled. "But no climbing for you, missy. Stay under the tree while I take them." he smiled.

"Awwww no way that's the bestest part. I want to climb the tree" she said as she gave Vertigo the puppy dog look

Vertigo poked her head lightly then smiled. "No. That won't work on me." he chuckled and stood up. He held out a hand for her.
