Kitchen!

Rae stood up, going out the door clamly.

"Anything with strawberries" *smiles*

"Strawberries are good I guess....." Rae smiled.

"Want a strawberry sundae... my specialty"

Rae nodded. "Yeah.... I guess that would be delicious... neh?" She sat down at the counter.

*Rei smiles taking out a bunch of ice cream from the fridge and takes out some bowls putting the sundaes together with strawberries on top* "Here we are Rei's special strawberry sundae"

Rae sighs.

I'm lucky she can cook.... I might have starved without a roommate neh?

"You're like... my mom you know that?"

*Smiles* "Thanks... I'm just glad I didn't turn out like my mom... otherwise I wouldn't even be here"

"Is your mom dead?" Rae looked down at the sundae.

"Oh no, she just... lives... well..." *sighs*

'I should at least tell her something... after all she is my roommate now'

"No she's not dead... my mother and father divorced years ago, my mom was devastated and couldn't live with herself, she ended up treating me like a maid in order for my brother to prosper, she hated the idea of me leaving her... she knew my brother would because she says he's like our father... when I told her I was going to Japan she got furious... I was just lucky... I met... 'him' before it was too late"

Rae played with the spoon, sort of understanding why Rei was the way she was. "And him was like your prince that saved you from the evil mother... or would he be more considered like the god mother that helped you get away?"

*Smiles sadly* "A little of both... he... he was gorgeous, every girl loved every foot step he even walked on... including me I admit... I thought he felt the same way... but it just ended up in a disaster convincing me that I needed to go far away"

"Did he not want you?" Rae looked up at her, eyes curious. "Or did he not even care about you?"

*Rei paused... she smiled sadly* "He... died"

Rae hadn't really expected this. "He... he died.... really?" She looked back out the window then to the sundae. "How did he die?"

"Well... I think to really tell you I should start from the beginning... if that's alright with you" *Rei sat down on the other side of the counter facing her*

Rae nodded, "Go ahead... I'm listening."

"His name was Daisuke... everyone loved his short green hair and blue eyes... I first met Daisuke when I was in high school, the first year to be exact. He was the kind of boy that never let anything bother him. We had gone through years and years of teasing, threatening and just hanging out... he finally asked me out. I was so happy... I waited for him at the restaurant that he said he would meet me at... but he never showed. I got worried and I ran and then... there he was-" *Rei stopped realizing that tears of sadness were dripping into her not even touched sundae*

Rae looked up, not really knowing how to deal with someone crying because she had never really cared enough to help them .

Oh god, I didn't mean to make her cry!

*Rei whipped her face and smiled sadly* "He was fighting off this robber that stole his little sister's purse, what he didn't know was that he had a gun and he got shot... right in front of me... I ran over and he smiled sweetly at me like he was sorry that he was late. We got to the hospital but it was too late, he was already dead... the sad part too... was that he was going to die in the next few months anyway because he had cancer that he told no one about" *Rei finally took a bite out of her sundae and cried a few more tears*

".... the robber had a gun? Did he get away?" Rae looked down at the counter. "Did the police find him?"

"Yeah he had a gun... the robber was found, but he only got 2 years claiming it was self defense" *Taking another bite out of the sundae*

{well I was wondering if it was gonna be like batman... where the guy wasn't caught and you became a vigilante.....lol}

"Self defense?" Rae looked up. "So he claimed that Daisuke stole the little girl's purse from him?"

"More like he was fighting back because Daisuke 'Apparently' laid the first punch when not needed... I never really did understand what happened myself... but I did know I had to get away... come here"
