West Gateway

The West Gateway allows you into the West Corridor

Rae was sitting with her back against the gate, staring up at the sky. She figured since other people had taken her spot at the Cherry Blossom grove, this would be the second best place, it was quiet and almost no one seemed to come here.

Mereni walked to West Gateway with nothing better to do, since she had no work or class. Once reaching the gate, she saw a girl sitting there quietly.

Rae hadn't noticed the girl just yet.

I wonder what it means by 'Winter Sun'?

She sighed quietly to herself.

Mereni stopped in front of the girl and asked shyly, "Do you mind if I join you?"

Rae's head snapped over to see her.

Guess I wasn't alone.....

She sighed, closing her eyes and resting her head on the wall. Rae opened her eyes and looked over at the girl. "You can sit here....."

Mereni sits next to Rae and looks over at her, "Everything thing alright? You seem kind of depressed."

Mereni lays her head on her arms which are wrapped around her knees, and waits for Rae to reply.

Rae looked over at her, somewhat annoyed. "I'm not depressed... I'm thinking. That's all."

Her eyes focused up on the sky, it was completely blue, no other colors. "About Winter."

Shys away a little. "Sorry." Looks up at the sky and says, "Beautiful shade of blue isn't it?" Mereni looks back at Rae and asks, "Why about winter? Why not summer, spring, or autumn?"

"Because Summer is too hot." Rae took off the jacket she had over her normal uniform.

"Because snow is the prettier than colorful leaves." She played with the bow on her shirt for a second.

"And because Spring breezes don't do as much as blizzards." She smiled and put her arms behind her head, closing her eyes.

Nods and looks back up at the sky. "Yes summer is too hot, but its the time when you can have a summer love. Spring has the rain, and makes the flowers blossum and leaves that sweet smell in the air." Leans back against the wall and Mereni closes her eyes.

"Autumn has the leaves changing color, meaning that life is changing too. New life is ending but returns in Spring." Mereni reopens her eyes and looks at Rae.

"But winter is cold and lifeless, yet beautiful. The snow shines in the light and as that Winter Wonderland feel." Smiles softly and shrugs her shoulders. "So I guess Winter is something good to think about."

Rae smiled slightly, not expecting that kind of an answer from this girl. "Autumn is sad though... everything is dying right before your eyes. Not to mention that school always starts then..." She opened her eyes looking up at the sky.

"Summer is.... the hurricane season.. and even if you have a Summer love. Yet Summer feels short and it will end soon enough." She flipped her bangs out of her eyes.

"Now Spring is fine I guess...."

"Winter is also calm, it's not like Spring, trying to make everything pretty and alive. Winter just simply is beautiful, it doesn't have to try."

Mereni smiles.

At least I got her to smile

Mereni nods and replies, "Yes Summer is the hurricane season, but in Winter you get the blizzards that knocks out you're power and heat." Looks at Rae and and continues,

"What my dad told me about the seasons when I was younger, was 'The seasons are like the groups in school. Spring is for the cheerleaders, Summer for the skates or surfers, Autumn for the jocks, and winter for the snowboarders and the silent kids who never get notice.'"

Laughs softly at this and says, "I don't know why though. I didn't understand the groups of school until now."

Rae's smile was replaced by a line. She put one of her arms over her eyes to block out the sun.
"And I'm sure your father told you that you need to be a happy cheerleader... in spring didn't he?"

She sighed softly. "And why do you think there are blizzards? Winter loves attention, but it seems that it has to be violent to get the focus, neh? Spring has to go and take all the attention with it's pretty little flowers and cheerleaders." Rae adjusted in her seat. "Winter uses it's longing to be the beautiful one as a way to channel it's rage at all of the things that Spring made."

"There are already cliques forming. You just haven't met enough of the people at this school to see it. Which isn't really too surprising considering you're new here."

Mereni's smile faded and she looked down at her shoes and fiddles with her uniform skirt.

"My dad just told me to be me and if people didn't like it than it was there lost. There are better people in the world to be my friend. I know there are cliques forming. When aren't they forming? I know I'm new. It always sucks being the new kid. Every single cliques wants you to join whether it be your taste in fashion, sports, or whatever. Most new kids get sucked into it and become part of the 'cool' crowd, but I try not to. My dad has always told me to get to know someone first. If they only like you for your clothes, money or whatever, than they aren't even worth your time."

"Ouran is a rich kid school.... if you don't have the money, and your a scholarship student... then you're practically banned from being in the cool kid club, unless you have a really good fashion sense and personality...." Rae yawned. "The way you talk about not judging people, it either makes you a scholarship student, or someone who denies human nature. It's your nature to judge people, because you need to surround yourself by people that are like you to be happy. Why do you think that Racism exists? People don't look past differences they exploit them so they can find people they relate to."

Mereni nods, and says, "I'm a scholorship student, but I somewhat deny human nature. Like judging people really isn't my thing but I do it sometimes. We are who we are and no one can really change up deep deep down. Which is why I hate and don't believe in racism."

Mereni looks up to the sky and tilts head to the side slightly. "Do you ever wish you were a bird?"

Rae listened to her arguing quite calmly,

Yes no one changes deep down, but people will do anything to be accepted and surface changes are no big deal at all.

She moved her arm and looked down at the girl. "Do I ever wish I'm a bird?" Rae wondered why she was changing the subject. "... hmm maybe a dead bird that flew to close to the sun, neh?"

What an odd answer

Mereni turned to look at Rae and tilts her head to the side a bit. "A dead bird? But why dead?"

Rae put her arm over her eyes again. "Well birds have a much shorter life-span than humans.... and considering all the things I've done and said in my life so far. I'm going to burn after I die anyway. Flying too close to the sun will just help me get used to it." She smiled.

Kazuki walked, more like skipped through the West Gateway.

Rae heard loud footsteps, well more like a jumping noise. She moved her arm and looked at Kazuki.
"Kazuki, what kind of a bird would you like to be?"

Mereni nods softly and looks up at the sky. "I guess if you think about it that way it would seem fit." Looks back at Rae. "So what are you? Scholor or you from a rich family?"

"Bird? Uh..I would want to be a Parrot!" Kazuki exclaimed happily as he stopped skipping.

Smiles softly. "Why a parrot? For their colorful feathers?"
