The Gym.

Evangeline stared at him for a moment and sighed. She took deep breaths, then charged forward.

Vertigo bent his knees and dashed forward towards her as well.

Evangeline used her right foot to skid into a stop, then twist her body around and deliver a straight kick with her left towards Vertigo.

Vertigo caught her kick then flipped it upward for her to fall on her back.

Evangeline used the momentum Vertigo made, to fully make a back flip, using her right foot to deliver an upper slice kick at him as she did so. She then placed her palms on the ground, and maintained her balanced with her legs still on the air. She then rotated her hand and shifted her weight to finally land her feet on the ground, then make a follow-up swipe kick from below.

Vertigo leaned back, missing the kick by inches, and immediately jumped back to avoid the following swipe kick.

Evangeline took this chance. She used the momentum from her crouching position, to spring forward towards Vertigo with a sharp jab to the side of his face.

Vertigo leaned back to dodge the punch, then grabbed her arm and twisted it to the side, trapping it with his grip.

Evangeline winced slightly, but took this chance to use her free hand to land a punch towards his stomach.

Vertigo shoved the punch gently with a simple flick of his hand, then grabbed her other hand, the one twisted to the side with both hands. Then turned around and went down on one knee and pulled the arm forward, throwing Evangeline across him to land back first on the ground.

Evangeline blinked as she was suspended in the air. Nyaaaa!~ Not again! she gritted, and her reflex reacted. She arched her body to the side, shifting her weight to her legs, to finally land on the ground beside him feet first. She then pulled her arm, and thus Vertigo, towards her. She spun and went down on one knee, and with the last remaining strength she got, she pulled his arm forward to throw Vertigo across her and finally land with his back.

Vertigo widened his eyes. He was caught off guard, and by a mere beginner. He sighed the moment his back hit the floor with a loud thud.

Evangeline blinked. She expected another counter, but the moment she heard the faint sound of someone hitting the floor, she blinked again. "I... won?"

Vertigo sighed, but smiled as he stood up. He patted his clothes and looked at her. Then smiled. "Yep. I guess you did." he chuckled.

Evangeline blinked, then looked up at him with sparkling eyes. "Reeeeally?!!! Then does that mean I'm officially a black belter as well?!!!" she beamed.

Vertigo smiled and patted her head. "Yep." he chuckled. "Congratulations. Though I never actually expected that to happen." he smiled.

Evangeline blinked, then smiled as she calmed her eyes. "Wow. I did it after all." she chuckled and moved closer to Vertigo. "Sorry. But I don't have any strength left." she smiled. "Sorry... for the... bother." her eyes slowly closed and she passed out due to exhaustion.

Vertigo immediately caught her, and smiled. "What a troublesome girl." he chuckled. And patted her head. "But wow. You're a genius after all." he smiled and gently carried her towards the side of the room and laid her just beside the wall. He took some pillows from the storage room and placed it behind her head.

He sighed and sat beside her, leaning against the wall. "Man, that hurts." he rubbed the back of his neck. "I wonder how far worse pain you felt." he sighed.

After several minutes, her eyes slowly opened. "Ugh." She sat up and rubbed the side of her head. "I'm beat!" she sighed.

Vertigo looked at her and smiled. "Haha. It's okay. You did pretty good anyway." he smiled.

Evangeline looked up and hummed, recalling the incidents. Then a wide smile spread across her face. "Ohohohohoho! Yeeees~ Oh yeah, that's right!" she pointed at him. "I defeated you! Ohohoho!"

Vertigo raised an eyebrow and pinched her cheek. "Don't get too full of yourself. I still held back. The one you faced was simply the level of a rank 1 black belt. remember that I'm a rank 6 one?" he smiled.

Evangeline scoffed. "I don't care." she beamed. "I still beat you. Ohohoho!~"

Vertigo chuckled and flicked her forehead. "Well, it doesn't mean that you have beaten the real Vertigo, does it?" he smiled.

Evangeline glared at him. "Don't tempt me. My whole body freakingly hurts right now because of your throws. " she pouted. "Maybe next time." she groaned.
