Poem Contest

Please read these Rules to qualify:

1: Make sure that the writing you submit is yours and shows originality. Don't copy.

2: One poem per contestant per contest.

3: Please do not spam, all spam will be deleted. If you have constructive criticism, there will be another topic for that or you may PM the user. It is more complicated to judge whilst going through excess posts, and we will be delayed.

4: If you win first place in a poem contest, you are not qualified to participate in the next poem contest. However, after skipping one poem contest, you may resume to participate. You are to participate in multiple contests at a time.

5: Keep poems to PG-13

6: Submit entry by deadline.

7: Have fun, and good luck!

Contestants - Everyone will receive $2 as a consolation prize for participating! It will be added at the end of the contest.

So here it goes~

Wow. Your poem is really good! I think i'm the second one to post a poem for this contest.

I walk onto a grassy hill, covered in beautiful flowers,
Yet I have never thought of how short were the hours,
Of the days of Summer.
My hair flows in the breeze as the sun basks in the sky,
I take a breath of the clean air as I wait for the cooling of my mom's yummy pie.
In my hand I hold, a bottle of lemonade oh so sour,
As I look into the distance at the clock tower.
I look at the time and run home in a flash,
Because my brother was going to have water party and it’ll be a splash!
When I got there and jumped into the water,
I was glad that I wasn't getting Hotter!
Then when the sun starts to set,
I know that I will not fret,
About thinking of ways to make myself cooler!

I like both of yours! They are soo good!
I don't think mine is that great T^T

I've come to an understanding
that summer cannot go on
without the sound of a child's laughter and teenagers singing along
The song of summer is not a song that goes Lalala
It is the sweetest of melodies that seem to play when the sun it setting
When that melody plays the children always want to stay
When the sun sets and the moon shines bright; The stars twinkle with their laughter and love
Just wait till the sun comes up

I look up to the sky and see you there.
The clouds were cold and black,
The wind was busy blowing by,
And nothing was heard.

But you where there.
I could feel your sad touch wash over me,
Your hot tears comfort me,
And your sad look as you fell by me.

For you are the summer rain that I love so very much.
You wipe away everything that was once sad,
You heal everything that was once broken,
And you sing a wonderful song.

I looked up and saw you,
Your smile is hidden yet I ca fnd it...
Because it is the smile I give to you.
Summers may come and summers may go, but my summer heart is yours.

Never once in my dreams,
Have I thought of a summer, full of glee.

To sit on the porch swing over at Nana’s
And have her sweet lemonade.
Having all of the troubles and thoughts at bay.

To run, laugh and play with the neighbor kids.
Run up to the stream, and catch the tadpoles,
While standing under the willows.

Staying out late with friends,
And having that sweet summer romance,
With just one glance.

Looking up at the starry night,
Catching the light bugs,
Those never leave sight.

Soon summer ends,
And you’re left with the memories
Of that sweet Summer dream.

Remember

Remember that summer?
When we glided on the concrete in bare feet
And played a childish game of tag

Remember the next summer?
When we a little older
We act like we were the kings of the world

Remember the summer after that?
We grew out of games
We fought over the smallest things
To the point we just ignored each other

Remember the several summers after?
How I wondered what and how you were doing
How you wondered the same

Remember when we finally gave in?
In tears and in joy
We began our summers again

Remember when we were just a boy and a girl?
A boy with a dream
A girl with a smile

"Remember those summers?"
A little older with hand in hand
Beginning a new life together

And we will take step forward
For what lies for us in the next summer

All of y'all are so much better than me!! But it's worth a try so here we go:

~Fire Still Burns~

It burns,
It smokes,
Leaves no survivors
Black smoke
Rises up
From the bonfire
The stench
Of death and decay
Of rotting corpses
Rises into the air
The vultures cry
And swoop down
For the feast
But must wait, for
The Fire Still Burns.

Every time I think of summer I think of fire (because I'm just like that). So ya.

Wow, everyones so good at this, hehe I guess I'll give this a shot.

Clear skys,
soft lights,
It all makes for a romantic night,
calming breezes of ocean air,
A whip of sand here and there.

Our voices lost in the waves,
As the light of day fades,
Sparkling water,
A cresent of sea,
As we exchange glances from you to me.

One soft kiss,
A beautiful song,
Our summer wont end,
As long as the waves crash onto this beach.
