The Tale of An Immortalby Vertigo Valentine
He read the vast layers of text
Scanned the mass amounts of ruins
Finding a secret a faith untested
Discovery at its very edge
Immortality was the word
spoken by the gods of Greece
told by the Pharaohs of Egypt
a forbidden word of science
A man achieving a life ever after
For an unending discussion of strength,
An everlasting commitment to life,
Or just for the love of power
One may have the life of a god
But what soon shall be?
Everything has its end, but him
Nothing left, just he
What is the worth of his sacrifice?
If he cannot even die trying?
What man could bear to see his lover die?
While he can’t even say “I will soon follow”?
At his lover’s grave he soon shall cry
Wishing for himself could come with her
But he will realize the reason he cannot
for forever he shall walk an endless path
He would pray to God,
He would find a cure,
He would try drawing himself to death
But none would be possible
He shall hang his neck
He shall slash his wrist
He shall sell all his internals
But in no avail
What a fool! What a fool! Words said to him
Building hell in his own mind
An eternal punishment for a life of a god
A never-ending cell made by his own hands
Oh how he wished to have a death!
To jump the skies knowing he will fall
To have his fun knowing there is sadness
And to live his life knowing it would end
Why didn’t he just be in contentment?
Why was he afraid to die?
In that fear, it built him madness
In that fear was a grave of eternal sadness
