The Lake

I shook my head, "No.."

Riko nodded lightly,wanting to help her.

"I can't get the curage to tell him.." I said, crying.

Riko hugged Kate."Don't cry..you might have to tell him,or something will happen"

"I can't" I said.

Riko looked to her."But if you don't,something terrible might happen if you don't"

"I can't..." I said,crying.

Riko rubbed her back soothingly."Maybe if you just tell him about they threatening you.."

"I can't..." I said.

Haru snapped her phone shut with a sigh and slid it into her pocket as she approached the lake. What she needed to do now was go somewhere to clear her mind, and the peaceful lake seemed like the best place to do it. She stared at the ground, picking up good skipping stones, on her way to the edge of the water. When her hand was full, she chose a nice flat one, went up to the water, and flicked her wrist. Haru counted. ..Five..six..PLOOP! the stone sank. She chose another one to try again.

I jumped into the water and came back up.

Haru jumped at the splash. She hadn't noticed anyone else here, but now when she looked toward the sound, she could see a head of familiar red hair bobbing in the water. "Kiane-nii?"

"HIYA, HARU-NEE~!" I said, grinning and swimming over to her.

It was him. Haru grinned and waved the hand holding the one stone. "Hey there Kiane-nii! How are you?"

"Bad actually...."I said sitting next to her.

"Aw, what's wrong Kiane-nii?" Haru asked, dropping her handful of stones in a pile near her.

"Brolin came today...He tried to take Alex..." I said, clenching my fists.

"Oh no." Haru covered her mouth, afraid of what might have happened. "Is he okay? Are you okay?"

"Yea, we're both fine..." I said, softly.

"That's good at least." Haru said reassuringly. She looked at him, still worried. "But why did he come for Alex?"

"I dunno..."I said, softly.

"Well...what did he say when he came?" Haru asked in the soft voice she used whenever her sisters were sad.

"He said give me alex I have custody of him.." I said in a mocking tone.

"Why would he say that when he kicked him out...?" Haru thought aloud,looking down at the water with a frown. She turned to Kiane. "Where is little Alex now?"

"With Mina-san..."I said.
