Cherry Blossoms Grove

Nami headed into the cherry blossom grove and sat under a tree, a piece string with a charm attached to it in her hand. She lightly caught a petal that was flying in the breeze an held it out in front of her in the same hand as the charm. She lightly clenched her gist before smiling up at Rae. "Well, hey there.... Good seeing you again."

Rae looked up at Nami, then her eyes unfocused. "Nami.. Hello."

She repeated Rae's question in her mind, whether if rarely seeing the blue sky counted, since she was unable to leave the estate.

"Yes, although rarely could I enjoy it such as this."

Her eyes reflected a hint of sadness, although she did not show it on her expression. Mizune's face turned, seeing Nami, another student whom she did not know.

"So what are you two talking about anyway? You sound kinda sad... Or at least nostalgic... Is it because of how pretty this place is?" asked Nami, looking up at the swaying trees.

Too busy staring at the ground to look up, neh?

Rae looked over at Mizune, she seemed like a insecure kind of person that never had their head up.

Rae turned back to look at Nami. "It's not just because it's pretty, it's because it's quiet... you can think about how things used to be."

Nami glanced at Rae and sighed. "Things that used to be are painful. I think of it the opposite.... Erases things you don't want trailing you... Trees are kinda like phoenixes... They die and are reborn each year... A cycle. It sheds its old leaves to make room for better ones. Now THAT'S what life should be about. Shedding old leaves."

Mizune gave a shrug at Nami.

"Not sad, nor nostalgic. Just a sense of freedom, more or less."

She returned Rae's stare, with a sort of cold, empty stare of her own. Mizune was distant, unlike from insecure. She was quiet, yes, although she would step up if needed.

Rae stared blankly back at Mizune, replying to Nami without looking at her. "No. You learn from your mistakes, how we survive is what makes us we we are. Neh?"

She looked at the grass covered in cherry blossoms. "Sure, not dwelling on the past is good..... but just forgetting it completely isn't a good this either."

Mizune agreed with Rae's second statement, knowing of experience.

"To forget your past, you forget your mistakes, there fore repeating them at some point."

Rae shrugged. "The past is only the future with the lights on......... everything will repeat at some point, learning from the mistake or not." (LOVE THAT SONG!!)

Nami actually laughed. It was almost funny how she had forgotten what she was here for and had to be reminded by a teacher and a classmate she barely knew. "I guess your right... Then again I belong nowhere. Take it from me, some people don't even have a past... But it's nice to imagine."

"That may be true, but the past gives reference to the future and helps the being improve when necessary."

She looked up at Nami in a piercing gaze. Not having a past?

"What do you mean, without a past or place?"

"Hmmm that depends on what you believe, neh." Rae laid back down. "And sometimes you don't get another chance....." She closed her eyes.

"In a perfect world the future wouldn't matter anyway....."

"Oh you know.... Like things get erased. Or you can't remember. My parents for instance... Never knew I'm. Spent my first eighteen months in an orphanage. But I don't remember it so I make things up. Like I imagine my dad to be a nice, strong, kind man. My mother to be tall and beautiful and calm. And I imagine the other orphans too." said nami happily.

"Who knows whether you'll get the chance again or not, you still have alot of time ahead of you."

Mizune nodded at Nami speaking. What a different lifestyle then my own...Nami's method of 'fixing' her past really showed how strong she was mentally.

"Do you ever wish to meet them?"

Rae glanced over at Nami.

If her parents didn't want her when she was younger.... why would they want her now. Neh?

"Your parents are probably dead, I wouldn't go looking for them........"

Nami blinked a few times. Then she smed. "Of course I want to meet them. Even if they're dead there's people who's know them... Relatives... Friends... Nothing's impossible. You know.... It's easy to believe in things you don't know about.."

Mizune somehow understood what Nami meant, but at the same time, had never experienced it.

"That's true, and who could possibly know? Nami's still in high school, I don't believe her parents are dead just yet."

Rae nodded somewhat...

But what are you going to do when your parents aren't who you think they are and they don't want anything to do with you neh?

"It's easy for someone who wants to believe in things they don't know about. They believe in things they know won't get them hurt."

"Not all the time.... See I do believe they gave me up because they didn't want me... And that hurts but I think they regret it. I'd like to think there's two people out there waiting for me.... Or looking... It's hard on mother and father's day but... If you're gonna think of the future... Why not think of a happy one?" asked Nami.

"Neh, but then when the future isn't what you expected... don't get your hopes up too high....... or they'll be smashed down." Rae opened her eyes and played with a petal in her fingers.

"Your very positive, I'm sure many people envy that. "

Another student with a different personality and past. Mizune picked up a cherry blossom petal within her hand, and watched as it was soon carried away in the wind. Her hair fluttered above her shoulders, as the night came down on them.

"Although her hopes, or anyone's hopes, may be crushed, it's just another suffering that they'll have to go through."

Nami laughed a little as she leaned back against the tree. "Nah, my hopes won't get crushed. I can honestly say that I don't get high expectations anymore. I stopped.... I stopped believing in people years ago..."

never put your trust or hopes in people.... Right?

"hmmm you think I'm jealous?" Rae looked over at Mizune.

"Well, she won't have the same personality once the world destroys her dreams, now will she." She went back to playing with the petal in her fingers.

"Then why are you believing in parents you've never known, neh?"

Mizune mumbled a few phrases after hearing Nami speak.

"Same as I..."
