The Lake

"Do you ever ask?" Haru asked, looking at his face, then away at the water.

"Yea but she tells me its nothing...." I said.

"In case you didn't know," Haru sighed. "When girls say 'nothing',it's almost always 'something'...are you two close?"

"Kindof..."I said.

"Hm..." Haru bit the inside of her cheek and looked down at her sketch pad. She tried thinking of possible bits of advice without prying. Letting her mind wander, she continued to sketch the row of geese. The mother was leading of group of four. "Well maybe she just needs some time..?" Haru thought aloud. "It could be something painful to think about."

I looked into the water.

Haru sighed inwardly. I hope I didn't say anything wrong. Haru went back to quietly sketching the lake, assuming Kiane wanted to be left to his thoughts.

"You know, Your one of Kate-Chan's freinds..." I said.

"I'd like to think so..." Haru said softly, really hoping Kate considered her a friend. "Is there a reason you ask?"

"I'm not asked I'm telling you..." I said looking at her with my white/blue eyes.

"Oh." Haru blinked. She met his eyes briefly, then looked down at the water. What was she supposed to say? "Um...thank you?"

I sighed, "uh-huh.." I said.

Haru put away her mini sketch pad, thinking of something to talk about. If Kiane didn't have somewhere else to be. "I'm not holding you up or anything am I, Kiane-san?"

"No...Your not..." I said.

"Are you sure?" Haru asked, appraising him with silver-grey eyes. "You sound hesitant..."

"Your not...trust me...i'm just sore thats all..." I said

"Sore?" Haru asked. Her gaze drifted to her bag of groceries next her. She'd bought some more ice packs, seeing as it seemed her sisters couldn't keep from getting hurt. "What happened? Are you ok?" she reached into the grocery bag and rummaged around for the ice pack, relying on her touch as she kept her concerned eyes on Kiane.

I was about to answer but I winced, "....ow...." I said reaviling my arm to be bleeding...

"Oh my gosh." Haru gasped. Her voice rose a bit in alarm."You didn't tell me you were bleeding. Ah, what would Akira-san say..." Haru remembered what he'd said to do for Kate.Ice-pack first, then ointment.Haru pulled out the ice-pack she was looking for and gently placed it on Kiane's wound. "Sorry," she said, realizing she hadn't asked permission to touch him. But it shouldn't have mattered in this situation.

I winced, and was starting to breathe heavily.

Haru frowned. Her limited limited supplies wouldn't be enough for this. Why did I have to leave my first-aid kit today of all days?! "We need to get you to the infirmary."

"...No...." I said...

"But Kiane-san.." Haru didn't want to argue but she had to do something. And she didn't want to leave him here alone while she went to the infirmary. "You have to get that wound treated." she squeezed the ice-pack a little more.

"I don't care! I'm not going to the infirmary...its scary..." I said, still breatheing heavily.

"Ok, ok just...try to calm down ok?" Haru said quietly. She didn't want to get him more worked up. "I'll call my sisters...one of them will bring my medical bag. Ok?" and without waiting for answer, she pulled out her cell phone. Then she remembered they were at the Boys&Girls club. "Damn it...I'll have to go home..." Haru glanced at Kiane, worried."Can I leave you here for just a second?"
