River

The River...

Kairi looked around but didn't see anything."Maybe we missed them..."She said and turned to him."Don't worry."She went to him and ruffled his hair."Every place can be magical if you're with a friend."Kairi smiled so he won't feel down.

Vertigo pouted. "No way!" he said with fiery determination and looked around more eagerly. He was already panting as he searched everywhere. Then he finally found a single firefly just by the riverbank. "Only this?" he mumbled and gently took it by his hand. The firefly was resting on his finger. He walked over to Kairi.

"Fireflies' tails glow during the night, and makes the whole place a romantic scene. And that's what it should have happened today." he sighed.

Kairi smiled at the firefly as she lightly touched it.Then she turned to him a little confused."Why?"She muttered.

Vertigo sighed. "I wish I could show you." he murmured and scratched the back of his head. "But I promised you, that I'll show you something nice." he smiled at her. "Though it could never be compared with how it should have been, I'll at least try it." he chuckled. "Wait there." he turned around and walked over to the edge of the bridge, then jumped down to the river bank. He looked side to side, then walked over and picked up something.

Now Kairi was deffinatly and complitly confused."Vertigo,what are you doing?"She asked as she watch him get in the river.

Vertigo walked back to her holding a bellflower in the other hand with the firefly still sitting on the other. He laughed. "Don't worry. I won't go as far as picking up a frog to scare you at a beautiful night like this." he smiled and looked down at the bellflower.

"Beside the rose, it's my most favorite flower." he smiled. "Yes, I know. It doesn't look anywhere as beautiful as lilies or daisies. But, well, it's special." he chuckled.

Kairi looked at the flower and smiled it was pretty and with the firefly next to it it was so much better.But then she turned to him and raised an eyebrow."Why is it special?"

Vertigo looked at it. "Because it does this."

Slowly, he inched his other finger towards the bellflower, and the firefly, though hesitantly, simply walked inside the blue flower for shelter. And in an instant, the dull and plain flower glowed with pure blue radiance that gave out it's real outstanding beauty.

And almost at the same time, the clouds of the night covered the full moon, putting everything in darkness, and it was this exact time, that the fireflies from the river slowly rose up with their very little white lights swaying gently around the place, giving it a true magical look.

Vertigo smiled.

Kairi's smile grew bigger becoming the one of a little child as she watched the flower.But then everything else happend and she looked up at the fireflys and everything else.A small 'wow' escaped her."This is...Amazing."She whispered."Truly magical.."

Vertigo smiled looking at a distance. "I like this place. I often go here during this time. Although this is the first time the fireflies got late." he chuckled and looked up. He walked to the bridge, and leaned against it.

"Look here." he chuckled and pointed at the water of the river below.

"Hmm?"Kairi was still really amazed of the view when he said what he said.She smiled and walked to him then looked down at where he was pointing."What is it?"She question looking at the water.

Vertigo chuckled. "These fish are special. Their scales contain a substance called fluorescence. During day, they look plain and you'll even barely recognize them because of their rather common look. But during night." he smiled and pointed at the water. "They glow."

The river was shining with different colored light emitted by the fish swimming from here to there, and their colors: ranging from orange to yellow and to red.

Kairi smiled at the water."It's soooo beautiful."She said and started at the different colours.She then turned to him still with a smile."Thanks for bringing me here."

Vertigo chuckled. "I don't usually bring people here." he smiled. "Only those very close to me." he chuckled and looked at the blue bellflower, still glowing with the amazing blue light.

Kairi looked around for the hundred time and smiled softly."Thank you again...But I think you should have brought someone you love here."She said and walked to the shore and ran a hand through the water with a little gigle.

Vertigo blinked then walked to where Kairi was and sat down, still holding the flower. "Kairi-san, may I ask a question?" he looked at her with an innocent expression. "Why do you sound like you're jealous?" he blinked.

Kairi looked up from the water to him."Yeah,sure shoot."She said and waited for his question.When he asked her her smile dissapeared and an confused expression came on her face."Do I sound like that?"

Vertigo chuckled and nodded. But patted her head. "Don't worry." he smiled. "You're special to me. That's why I brought you here." then he began his casual talk to ease the building awkwardness. "I mean if it were some random guy I met at the park, then hell no. " he mumbled.

"Well I didn't want to sound jelous I just said what I thought."She said and turned back at the water."And for the random guy thing...Well I don't know if it was a guy but a girl...who knows."She said and laughed.

Vertigo looked at her and squinted his eyes. "Are you calling me a cheap flirt?" he laughed.

"Maybe..."She said in a teasing voice and laid down on the grass.

Vertigo gasped. "I am not!" he mumbled and laid on the grass as well. "Besides, you're the one who's going out with that Sigismund." he looked to the side childishly.

"Huh?"Kairi turned her head to him as she was really confused by what he just sain."I'm not going out with him."

Vertigo mumbled to himself. "Right. So what do you call that in the pool? Friendly conversation?" he continued mumbling.

Then turned into his childish mode. "That was unfair! Unfair! Unfair!"

"What was unfair?"She asked as she stood up all too serious.
