The River...

Vertigo blinked then shook his head. "No. I didn't say anything. You didn't hear anything. Right? Nope. Not at all. Not even a word." he smiled.

She pulled his hair a little and glared at him a little before giving him a somewhat evil smile with closed eyes."What was unfair?"

Vertigo stammered. "Uh, nothing." he smiled a nervous smile. "I..just..happened to say that. Since..I don't..know what to say. ehehe. hehe." he hugged his legs.

"Lier."She said and turned her back on him."And by the way how do you know what happend by the pool?"She asked as she played with the grass infront of her.

Vertigo was still in childish mode. "Well, if you weren't that caught up with him, you might have actually noticed your surroundings. Especially that guy leaning against the wall just right beside where you two were... having your friendly conversation." he mumbled the last words childishly. "With all the blushing and hugging and moving to the apartment and such.hmp"

Kairi blushed a little at how all of it sounded.Thank God she was with her back to him so he didn't have the chance to see it as it dissapeared almost the same moment it came on her face."It's not what it sounds like."She said and turned to him with a little glare."And why are you so upset about it?Are you jealous or something?"

Vertigo jumped up. "I am not!" he turned his back to her as well and folded his arms in front of his chest. "I'm just concerned." he nodded.

"Concerned about what?"She asked and raised an eyebrow and turned around again so they were back to back.

Vertigo lowered his eyes and sighed. "Hmm. Never mind." he walked over to the edge of the river and laid the bellflower just beside it. He stood up and walked over to Kairi, unbuttoning his coat. He then placed the coat around her. "You'll catch a cold if you don't cover up." he smiled, then walked pass her without looking at her, to return to where they left their sweets.

Kairi watched him place the flower down."Yeah now you're sweet...."She said at him as he gave her his coat."But thanks."She muttered and looked down as the glare was gone.She then noticed he was walking off to somewhere."Where are you going?"She called after him.

Vertigo answered. "Back." he shrugged. "I still haven't finished eating my cake yet." he said with a neutral tone.

"Fine..."Kairi muttered and turned to the river with a little glare as she felt a little annoyed at how it said it.What's his problem?!She thought as she stared at the water not really seen anything.It would be easier if he says what he thinks...I'm not a mind readerShe then sighed and closed her eyes.

Vertigo chuckled slightly. He looked at his watch. "Hehe. It's about time. I better get ready. he thought and immediately hid behind a tree and watched Kairi, chuckling slightly.

After a few moments, a sound of a frog croaking can be heard. Followed by another one. And another one. And their croaks continued to increase.

"Ehh?"Kairi jumped up,standing on one leg she looked around.Frogs?!?!She was lookind everywhere around her with terrified eyes."Man..."She then noticed a tree only a few steps away from her and she skipped to it as being careful not to step in a frog.Kairi then climbed the tree and sat on a branch.

Vertigo fell on his knees and sulked. Man, there goes my here-I-come hero plan. He thought and sighed. "What a troublesome young lady." he stood up and shuffled his hair to walk towards the tree where Kairi had climbed up to.

He looked up at her and sighed. "Hey, it's dangerous up there. Especially at this night. You'll disturb the ravens or crows sleeping there, so you'll probably end up having a huge lump on your head from their pecks." he looked to the side. "Jump down. I can catch you from here." he sighed. "And geez, you could have just called for me when you were scared instead of running off on your own, you know."

Kairi glared at him then the frogs made a sound and she jumped a little."Well you were walking off and I didn't want to concerne you."She said and stood up her legs on the branch as she started walking towards the end of it.It was a good thing the branch was quite big.She refused to jump to him...after all they just had a fight.When she reached the end she looked at the tree next to the one she was on.There was another branch one jump away and she dicided to jump.KAiri took a deep breath and counted to 3...1...2...3...And she really jumped.The girl stepped on the other branch but slipped and started falling.A little sream escaped her as she thought of the frogs under her.But the good thing was she was able to catch the branch with her hands.

Vertigo was following her from below as she was about to jump towards the next branch. "Kairi-san! I told you, it's dangerous! Don't be so stubborn!" he shouted at her. But she jumped anyway. He sighed. "Definitely troublesome." he thought as he looked to the side. But his eyes widened as he heard a scream.

"Shit!" he ran towards the spot where she would land. Fortunately she was still able grab the branch. Vertigo looked up at her with a really scared expression. "Kairi-san! Kairi-san! Are you alright?!" he shouted, positioning himself to catch her. He was catching his breath rapidly. "It's alright! You'll hurt your hand if you hold on to it any longer" he told her. "Just let go. I'm here."

"No!And you don't have to shout.I'm right here."She said and tried to get herself back on the branch....But her left hand didn't think so.It started hurting and the straight of it went away.Kairi couldn't hold herself with just one arm and she ended up falling.When her right hand slipped of the branch she shut her eyes closed waiting for the hit with the ground and suppressed a scream."Mmmm."Was all came out.

Vertigo raised an eyebrow. "So demanding." he thought. Then he saw her fall, and he already expected that. He was looking at her, checking the right estimation of where she would land, and finally he caught her in his arms. "K-kairi-san, are you alright?" he asked with a worried look.

Kairi slowly opened her eyes as she didn't fall on the ground since Vertigo catched her."No,I'm not ok!"She said and was about to get down but then a frog made a sound from somewhere near them and on instict she placed her arms around his neck and hugged him with her eyes closed thight.

Vertigo looked to the side. "Hmm." then he sighed. "Now you owe me so don't be so stubborn." he walked back to the small wooden bridge. And laid her gently. "Don't worry. The frogs don't go here in this bridge." he looked at her then held his hand. "Let me see. The injured hand."

"It's fine..."She muttered and sat on the edge while looking at the water and the reflection of the moon.

Vertigo narrowed his eyes with her stubbornness. He simply forcefully took her hand and looked at the graze across the palm of her hand. "Fine huh?" he said in a cold tone.

"Aww!"She almost screamed as he took her hand.Kairi glared at him before turning to her hand.She just then noticed the scratch.It wasn't hurting her because of that...not only because of that."It's just a scratch."She said and tried to pull her arm.

Vertigo didn't let go. "Shoosh. Just for a moment, keep quiet." he mumbled childishly as he removed his necktie with his other hand. He sighed and gently wrapped the tie around her injured hand, and up ending it with a soft knot on the wrist. "Geez, so troublesome. You already have my coat and now my tie."
