The Boardwalk

The Boardwalks lined with street vendors.

Kuro nodded slowly, giving most of his attention to Akira, whereas another part of him was wondering off into the past. He blinked at Akira, giving full attention, "I..honestly do not know. Wherever life takes me I suppose." He laughed a bit, spotting the ice cream stands as well. He walked over and looked at all the flavors, "They all sound so good~"

He laughed as well and slouched a bit. "Don't worry, I have no clue either." The thought of what could happen in the future never occurred to him as often. "Live the present well I suppose." He smiled and looked at the flavors as well. "I'm in the mood for strawberry, if you can't decide, get a double scoop of flavors. Say once could be vanilla and the other can be coffee."

(And Akira's gonna go on a daily bike ride ^^)

Kuro smiled with a slight nod, "I agree. If we spent all our time thinking about the future then we wouldn't be able to enjoy ourselves much in the present." His face lit up at the suggestion, "You can do that?" He sounded completely incredulous as he looked at all the flavors, trying to narrow them down to the two that looked best.

(Back, but probably going to shower later xD)

He blinked at Kuro curiously, "Well of course, you could go to three scoops if you wanted to or four, but let's not go pass four or three. You're going to get bloated if you do." He slightly covered his mouth, lightly, but moved quickly moved his hand away from his lips. He was a odd feeling and act, he really was sounding like a brother after all this time with Kuro. He laughed to himself and shrugged it off.

Kuro laughed, though he was a bit surprised at how much the comment had sounded like something Rei would say. "Eto..I wantttt..these ones!" He pointed at an orange sorbet flavor and then a strawberry one, feeling like he wanted something fruity.

He laughed and pulled out his wallet, paying for both of their ice-creams. He gave Kuro his and spotted a bench. "Lets sit down, I felt like I've been standing all day." He started to lick his ice-cream on the way to the bench. He checked his watched and realized that the evening hours were coming. He looked to the back of him and saw a nice setting sun on the horizons of the ocean. "Well what you do, perfect timing!" He smiled, however, knowing that night hours were coming, he knew that he would have to force himself from acting so paranoid by paranormal incidents. It always took a day or two for Akira to calm down. "Say Kuro, you want to hear a story?"

Kuro sat down on the bench, staring at the sunset with a nostalgic look. He couldn't help but replay all the songs Rei would sing to him in his head, becoming a bit distant from the rest of reality. He was too caught up in his thoughts to realize Akira was speaking to him, though he heard the voice, he wasn't focused on the words.

He turned to Kuro, one hand in his pocket and the other holding his ice-cream cone. He blinked twice and looked at him curiously, "Ne... Kuro?" He was curious to know what was going on in his head. A little funny to see him space out like this, but he guess that everyone had moments like this. He flicked him lightly on the forehead, "You alright in there Kuro?"

Kuro blinked and turned to Akira, "Wha-..Oh! Sorry, Aki-san. Did you say something?" He sweatdropped, rubbing the side of his neck with a sheepish smile. He tended to zone out at random moments in time, it was a habit he picked up from Etsuko and just kinda stuck with.

Akira blinked for a second and sweatdropped, "Not really, just thought I bring up some sort of conversation starter, however there seems to be a lot going on in your mind. Anything worth sharing?" He realized that his times with Kuro were mostly talk, he was curious to see what sort of actions they would do in the future. He expected that someone would happen when school starts and further on when they meet more people.

Kuro turned his gaze back to the sunset, his face clear of much expression as his hair blew gently in the breeze, "I was just reminiscing. For as long as I can remember I've watched the sunset every evening with Rei, it was the only time we really took out of the day to simply sit and admire how through all the despair and cruelty of the world, there's still beauty and hope." He looked back at Akira and laughed a bit nervously, "Sorry, I must be boring you."

He smiled at him brightly,"Honto ni?" He laughed a bit to himself, "That's funny, I was just about to tell you a story about my brother and how we used to just watch sunsets like this." He laughed a little more than cleared his throat. He felt a little selfish that he was constantly around Kuro, as if he's making up for the part of his childhood that he missed. "You really miss Rei don't you?" He said in a less joyful tone, but in a melancholic one.

Kuro smiled genuinely, "That is pretty funny. I suppose we both can take pleasure in something any other would simply pass by." He laughed lightly, "I guess that makes us lucky." The humor faded away from his expression, being replaced with a sort of sadness, and his eyes closed partly, "Like I said before though, she's still here." He chuckled, but there wasn't much humor in it, "But, her physical being, yes." He glanced at Akira a bit sadly, "Which is why I feel selfish when I spend so much time with you. It's like you're the physical replacement for all that I lost." He felt guilty for saying it, but he knew deep down it was partly true.

He looked down on the ground, twiddling with his fingers. This conversation was the equivalent of being punched in the gut to him. It wasn't because Akira hated the topic, but the first time in awhile, he felt emotional pain.

He started to question if this a healthy friendship between Kuro and him. "Kuro, I'm not going to lie, I have been guilty of the same thing." He paused for a second to inhale and exhale to calm his nerves down. "When I see you, you symbolize the things that I've always wanted in my past and you say that I symbolize that things you lost... I'm starting to wonder if that's the part that we'll see in each other each time we meet. Will I ever see the real Kuro? Or am I just blinded by this mentality that you're the past that I've longed for. It makes a person wonder." That small pain in his chest returned, but he quickly shrugged it off.

Kuro winced slightly at the words, he had so many emotions jumbled up right then it all just clumped into pain. He was pretty close to tears by then, but kept his eyes indifferent, simply staring at the sunset. But, he smiled, through all of what he was feeling, he smiled. And it was genuine. "Akira Fukuyama.." He paused, turning his head to Akira with a bright smile and glad eyes, "you're my best friend, and my brother." He put a hand on his shoulder, "And I really do believe I'd like to be so close to you if I hadn't lost what I have." His smile went down into a slight smirk, "Always remember that, alright? It won't change."

He started to question his own feelings and his actions lately in the past few days. He's been experiencing newer emotions or at least emotions that he hasn't felt in awhile. He felt unworthy of Kuro's words almost, however he was right, there couldn't possibly be something that could deny the fact that they were brothers, even if official. "Honto ni Kuro?" He bit his lip and scratched his head slightly in frustration. "No matter what I say, or what I am?" He intended to pressure him however, he wanted a sort of security inside him.

Kuro chuckled, the smile still plastered on his face. "Unconditionally Aki-san! No matter what!" He was getting pretty excited himself, just by speaking of the friendship. It had been a long time since he's made a friend that he's gotten this close to, and it scared him, but it also filled him with happiness and excitement, and he felt better than he has since he arrived at Ouran, better than he has in awhile.

He smiled, having his nerves finally calm down. He exhaled, relieving all this emotions and stress. He took Kuro's words to heart and nodded. "We'll shake on it then Kuro?" He extended his hand. "I'll do the same for you the. No matter what happens in the future, the present will be treasured and we'll still be brothers at heart." He laughed to himself and finally made complete eye contact with Kuro. He felt a sort of happiness instead. Ouran seemed to of helped and lifted his spirits ever since he got here. Perhaps that's why he feels so attached to it.

Kuro chuckled, his eyes shining with a sort of happiness he hasn't felt in quite some time. He nodded with a slight smirk and took Akira's hand, "Looks like we have ourselves a very valued time on our hands, let's make the best of it." He sighed quietly in relief, feeling a large weight being lifted from his shoulders, it had seemed it was only a matter of time before he was crushed, but Akira had saved him. His brother had saved him.

(I was just thinking that! :o I guess great minds think alike haha)

He nodded and shook Kuro's hand firmly. "You got that right," he laughed, following a very bright joyful expression on his face. "There's so much I want to tell you where I couldn't exactly tell someone else." He let a small sigh. "I guess we'll have to learn about each other slowly to make this time with each other last." He felt a strong need to tell Kuro what kind of person he was, his secret, him in general. To simply tell the truth to someone.

Kuro laughed and let go of Akira's hand and licked his ice cream, which was starting to melt a bit. "I'm pretty sure you've figured out most of me. I don't really hide much." He shrugged, but then tapped his chin, realizing he knew a lot about Akira, but knew there was much more to him that he has yet to experience. "I suppose so. I have to admit, I am very curious as to what I could learn about you."

Jaylne walked along the boardwalk.

"I could say the same about you." He laughed and finished the top part of his ice-cream. His face grew disappointed. He always reaching the cone. It meant that his ice-cream was just about done. "I suppose there's a lot that we know about each other, but again, there's a lot that can't be figured out unless we step into one another's shoes." He looked at Kuro, "Like, why are there so many sides to you?"

Jaylne stopped and looked up at the sky.

Kuro nodded in agreement, getting the last of his ice cream out of the cone and then looking at it like it had looked so much better with the ice cream. He blinked a bit at the question, then rubbed the side of his neck with a sheepish expression, "Well..as much as I seem like the person that'd be 'It's my way or the highway'..I have this need.." He paused for a moment, contemplating how to word it, "A need to please people, so-to-speak. And I tend to change according to the kind of person they'd enjoy the most." He left out the specific reason as to why he had the need, it was a bit embarrassing to him.
